Deborah Grider’s Three Sessions at ASCENT included: 

Best Practices in Validating the ABN in the Physician Office 
Deb covered the Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN), a critical tool for physicians and suppliers to ensure Medicare compliance. Attendees learned when and how to issue the ABN, how to complete and validate it, and strategies to protect their practices from non-compliance risks. 

Allergy Coding Basics 
Deb presented essential coding principles for allergist and immunologist practices, covering allergy testing, immunotherapy, and current Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs). She shared guidance on coding documentation, modifier usage, and regulatory updates impacting allergy services. 

Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) the Future of Medical Coding 
In this forward-looking session, Deb explored the evolving role of AI in medical coding. Attendees examined the impact of technologies such as Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Generative AI on coding workflows, and discussed how coders can leverage AI to improve efficiency while maintaining the critical expertise of human coders.
